Help children and teens develop impulse control, self-control and better decision-making skills with this engaging, game-inspired workbook.
The color version is available here.
Designed for kids and teenagers who struggle with impulsive behaviour, 'Level Up Your Choices' resource gives young people a simple framework for pausing before they react, thinking about consequences and making more thoughtful choices.
The workbook introduces a fun “Self-Control Pad” that helps children practise what to do when they feel an impulse to say or do something without thinking.
Four simple self-control strategies
PAUSE
Stop for a moment before reacting. PAUSE helps children create space to breathe, think and avoid saying or doing something too quickly.
JUMP AHEAD
Think about what might happen next. JUMP AHEAD encourages children to consider the possible consequences of different choices before deciding what to do.
REPLAY
Look back at what happened and consider what could be done differently next time. REPLAY helps children learn from mistakes and practise alternative responses.
PRESS START
Take action once you've paused, thought about the choices and decided what to do. PRESS START encourages children to put their plan into action in a calm and thoughtful way.
Together, these activities help children develop practical self-regulation, impulse control and decision-making skills that they can use in everyday situations.
